Lily Allen is never one to back down and stay quiet, if she’s got something to say, she’ll just say it, it’s as simple as that really. She really doesn’t care who you are, as proven in her new, strangely artistic video for the immaculately titled, ‘Sheezus.’

A play on words on ‘Yeezus’ (Kanye West’s most recent album,) ‘Sheezus‘ which shares its name with Lily’s recent of album of the same name that encompasses it, is consequently packed full of witty rhymes, punchy lyrics, and a surprisingly catchy melody, as she works her way through the ridiculously colourful video, with her directly honest, yet playful vibe that she’s known for, after taking a slight break from the music industry.

I mean, Lily even goes as far as poking a little tongue in cheek humour at the current divas of the generation, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lorde and Lady Gaga, as she acknowledges the changing state of the industry and her competition, “RiRi isn’t scared of Katy Perry‘s roaring, Queen Bey’s gone back to the drawing, Lorde smells blood, yeah she’s about to slay you, kid aint one to f*** with when she’s only on her debut,” Lily says, before, before launching into that lovely Gaga reference, “We’re all watching Gaga, L O L, ha ha, dying for the art so really she’s a martyr” Lily exclaims, I actually really hope the latter of which I isn’t tongue in cheek at all, but serious talk masked by subtlety (It can be a secret Lily!), in fact, I laughed at the Gaga line so much I choked on my cup of scalding, hot, tea on first listen, but I suppose that’s just because I don’t like her, but thanks Lily.
The Brit then ends the verse with, “Second best will never cut it for the divas, so gimme’ that crown b****, I wanna’ be Sheezus,” she’s just full off facts and truthful remarks isn’t she? Please, just let us digest our thoughts first. I still remember the infamous (yet absolutely hilarious) time Lily took to Twitter to leave her thoughts on rapper Azealia Banks (I’ve still not recovered, don’t remind me) who she erm… definitely doesn’t get along with after she trash talked her children, “ive had 2 kids since 212 dropped and i bet my my album still comes out 1st” Lily said, and well, clearly she was right wasn’t she.”
The video for ‘Sheezus’ itself is very vibrant and unique, with colourful drawings, fancy gold glitter and shapes off odd things and all sizes taking over the screen, with Lily even being depicted as blue Avatar, with ears, and yellow eyes… the lot. You get the picture.
